Community Conservation Program Manager

Position Summary:  The Community Conservation Program Manager works under the guidance and direction of the Executive Director to expand and strengthen ODLC’s mission through community outreach, partnerships, and education.  The Program Manager serves as ODLC’s communication coordinator and project manager for accreditation.

Primary Duties:

  • Navigating the process and supporting the work of accreditation
  • Developing and implementing an educational outreach program for youth
  • Strengthening and expanding outreach to community partners
  • Creating educational materials for landowners and the public

Specific Duties:

  • Support the work of the accreditation process
  • Review easements for final approval by the board of directors
  • Develop library of communication, media, and informational packets and brochures
  • Write and manage newsletters, press releases, talking points, social media, and brand management
  • Assists with easement holder communication and questions
  • Coordinate with Executive Director to maintain and increase ODLC’s participation in the local conservation community
  • Develop a library of conservation education materials to share with local schools
  • Coordinate with Executive Director to encourage new conservation easements

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest and work in conservation of natural resources
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred
  • Ability and desire to work positively and collaboratively
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to plan, implement and adapt programing
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Ability to occasionally travel

Compensation:  $70,000 annual salary, full time, hybrid remote, personal, sick and personal leave, retirement benefits.Location:  Office located at 621 W. Main St., Purcellville, VA 20132.  Field-work in Virginia Counties: Fairfax, Loudoun, Clarke, Frederick, Shenandoah, Warren, Rappahannock, Madison, Culpepper, Prince William, Fauquier, Stafford, King George, and Westmoreland.

ODLCs Mission:  Old Dominion Land Conservancy (ODLC) works with landowners and other stakeholders to protect in perpetuity Virginia’s land and waterways as well as to assist environmental stewards through scholarships and educational opportunities.
